This guide opens ten minutes north in Coral Gables, then runs through twelve coffee shops inside Coconut Grove, from the specialty roasters and all-day cafes around Main Highway to the Cuban counters out on Dixie. Most of the village center sits within a few blocks, so two or three stops in one morning is easy on foot. Hours and menus change all the time, so check each place’s own listing before you head over.

GROU Coffee + Cowork, ten minutes away in Coral Gables

Where: 4100 Salzedo St STE 5, Coral Gables

The honest part first: GROU is not in Coconut Grove. It is in Coral Gables, about ten minutes up Douglas or LeJeune, so if what you want is a cup you can walk to from Main Highway, start at number one below. The beans are roasted locally for the shop by Escondido Specialty Coffee rather than bought off a distributor list. The espresso is pulled from El Salvador and Brazil beans, the cold brew steeps 16 hours in house, and there are close to a dozen matcha drinks on the board, from a ceremonial-grade matcha latte to a pistachio cold foam version. The affogato bar runs from a classic to the Arabian Dreams, and there is a flight if you cannot pick one.

The kitchen serves the conscious brunch menu all day rather than in a weekend window: 7:30am to 6:00pm on weekdays, 8:30am to 3:00pm on weekends. The avocado toast is a whole avocado smashed with olive oil, citrus and sea salt on multigrain bread, the acai bowl comes with banana, strawberries and shaved coconut, and the arepa, the almond cake and the banana bread are gluten free. On the Cuban side there is a colada and a cafe bombon.

Then there is the room, and this is the part worth the drive. 1. Panther Coffee

Where: 3407 Main Highway

The Grove outpost of Miami’s pioneering roaster is the neighborhood’s specialty coffee anchor. Panther roasts its own small-batch beans, pulls consistently excellent espresso, and the Main Highway location adds a leafy, laid-back calm that fits the Grove perfectly. Whole bean is sold by the pound at the counter, so it doubles as the place to restock at home.

2. Emissary Cafe

Where: 3308 Mary Street

Emissary is the name specialty drinkers reach for once they have worked past Panther. It runs a Counter Culture coffee and espresso program alongside an all-day kitchen built on organic, seasonal and local ingredients, and it turns into a natural wine bar later in the day. The room is small, bright and made for staying a while.

Go for: espresso in the morning, a glass of natural wine after.

3. Navi Coffee & Flowers

Where: 3213 Grand Avenue

Part specialty coffee shop, part bespoke florist, and the most photographed counter in the Grove for a reason. Founder Razzy Ghomeshi named the shop after his mother, Navideh, who is the head floral designer, and the two businesses share one room with indoor seating and a garden out back. You can leave with an arrangement and a coffee in the same trip.

Go for: a latte in the garden, then flowers on the way out.

4. Basquet

Where: 2829 Bird Avenue

Basquet is part gourmet market and part cafe, the first brick-and-mortar location of an online grocery brand that leaned wellness from the start. The cafe counter is the reason to sit down: the space was designed as a neighborhood third place rather than a grocery run, so nothing about it rushes you. Go for: coffee and something off the wellness counter.

5. Greenstreet Cafe

Where: 3468 Main Highway

A corner institution more than a coffee bar, and note the spelling: the brand writes it as one word. Greenstreet is where the Grove people-watches over breakfast, and the espresso and cappuccino do their job while you take in one of the busiest sidewalks in the neighborhood. The patio is the whole point. Come for the morning scene as much as for the cup.

Go for: a cappuccino at a patio table on Main Highway.

6. CRAFT Coconut Grove

Where: 3324 Virginia Street

CRAFT is an all-day cafe and espresso bar attached to a full restaurant, which makes it the Grove’s easiest answer when half the group wants coffee and the other half wants a meal. It runs from breakfast through dinner and has both indoor and outdoor seating, so it works as a first stop or a last one.

Go for: espresso while the rest of the table orders food.

7. Black Sheep Coffee

Where: 2750 SW 27th Terrace, at Grove Central

The newest name on this list. Black Sheep is a London-founded chain, and in August 2025 it opened its first Florida location at Grove Central, the development next to the Metrorail station on the northern edge of Coconut Grove. If you arrive by Metrorail rather than by car, this is the first coffee you walk past.

Go for: a cup on the way in or out of the Metrorail station.

8. Pura Vida

Where: 3034 Grand Avenue, Studio A

Pura Vida is a Miami-born health-focused cafe chain, and the Grove location does what the rest of them do: coffee alongside bowls and smoothies, in a bright room built for a quick sit. 9. The Salty Donut

Where: 3034 Grand Avenue, Suite 7

The Salty is a Miami-founded craft donut shop that takes its coffee seriously enough to run a real program rather than treat it as an afterthought. It sits in the same Grand Avenue block as Pura Vida, which makes those two an easy back-to-back stop on a crawl.

Go for: coffee with a donut on the Grand Avenue block.

10. Chug’s Diner

Where: 3444 Main Highway, Suite 21

Chug’s is the Grove’s Cuban American diner and its cafecito counter, and it is the answer when what you actually want is a colada and Cuban bread rather than a pour-over. 11. Le Pain Quotidien

Where: 3425 Main Highway

The Belgian bakery-cafe chain built its identity on bread, pastries and communal tables, and the Main Highway location is a reliable, unfussy place to sit with a coffee when the independents are packed. It is a chain and it does not pretend otherwise, but the big shared table is genuinely useful.

Go for: coffee and a pastry at the communal table.

12. Pinecrest Bakery

Where: 2720 South Dixie Highway

Pinecrest Bakery is a Miami Cuban bakery chain, and the Dixie Highway location is the ventanita end of the Grove’s coffee spectrum: cafecito, colada and pastelitos, ordered at a window. It is the least specialty-coffee entry on this list and one of the most Miami.

Go for: a colada and pastelitos at the window.

How to do a Coconut Grove coffee crawl on foot

The Grove keeps adding independent cafes, and half the fun is wandering until a counter pulls you in. The village center is compact enough that you do not need a car for most of this list.

Main Highway is the spine: Panther, Greenstreet, Chug’s and Le Pain Quotidien all sit on it, within a few minutes of each other. One block over, Mary Street has Emissary and Virginia Street has CRAFT. Grand Avenue picks up Navi, Pura Vida and The Salty Donut. Those three clusters are the walkable core, and two or three stops in one morning is realistic.

Bird Avenue (Basquet), Grove Central (Black Sheep) and South Dixie Highway (Pinecrest Bakery) sit further out toward the edges of the neighborhood, so save those for when you have wheels or you are already passing.
