GROU is a specialty coffee shop with a full brunch kitchen at 4100 Salzedo St STE 5, a four minute walk from Shops at Merrick Park and not inside it. The brunch menu runs nineteen items, from a $3.99 Sourdough Bagel & Cream Cheese to a $16.99 homemade Lasagna, and it is served every hour we are open: Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 6 PM, Saturday and Sunday 8:30 AM to 3 PM.

Brunch served all day, every day we are open

There is no brunch window at GROU and no cutoff at noon. The same kitchen menu runs 7:30 AM to 6 PM Monday to Friday and 8:30 AM to 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday, so an avocado toast at 2 PM on a Tuesday is a normal order here. That is also why lunch lives on the same page instead of replacing brunch: the Butcher's Panini at $12.99, the Italianissimo Panini at $13.99, the homemade bolognese Lasagna with parmesan and multigrain toast at $16.99, and the Soup of the day at $11.50, which runs while it lasts.

Doors open at 7:30 AM on weekdays, early enough to eat before a nine o'clock meeting near Merrick Park or Miracle Mile. The Chia Pudding at $7.99 is the best seller of the breakfast side of the menu. The Greek Yogurt Parfait with granola and fresh strawberries is $6.99, the Overnight Oats are $6.49, and the Arepa, a Venezuelan arepa built as a protein plate for breakfast, lunch or a snack, is $6.99. Three more plates arrive on bread beside it: the Garbanzo Toast or Salad at $13.49 and the Tuna Toast or Salad at $12.99, both salads developed by Lauren Arboleda with dates, carrots, scallions and shallots, and the Sourdough Bagel Lox (Smoked Salmon) at $14.99 on a toasted sourdough sesame bagel with cream cheese.

Açaí bowls and the healthy side of breakfast

The Acai Bowl is $11.99 and the menu describes it as a local favorite: vibrant açaí topped with fresh sliced banana, juicy strawberries, shaved coconut and crunchy granola. It is on the menu every day the shop is open, not a weekend special. If a bowl is not the plan, the Chia Pudding at $7.99 and the Greek Yogurt Parfait at $6.99 cover the same morning without a blender. This is a kitchen, not a pastry case with a coffee machine next to it.

GROU is a four minute walk from Shops at Merrick Park and it is not inside the mall, which is the honest answer to where to eat before or after the shops. Inside, the coffee shop and the coworking space share one room, with fast wifi and bilingual service, so brunch can turn into two hours of work and nobody rushes the table.
