The beans are roasted locally for the shop by Escondido Specialty Coffee. The espresso is pulled from El Salvador and Brazil beans, the cold brew steeps 16 hours in house, there are close to a dozen matcha drinks on the board, and the affogato bar runs from a classic to the Arabian Dreams.
The kitchen serves a conscious brunch menu all day, 7:30am to 6:00pm on weekdays and 8:30am to 3:00pm on weekends: avocado toast, an acai bowl with banana, strawberries and shaved coconut, and gluten free options including the arepa, the almond cake and the banana bread.
What separates it from every other counter in the Gables is the room. GROU is a coffee shop and a cowork in the same venue, four minutes on foot from Shops at Merrick Park, with laptop friendly seating, a dog friendly patio, private offices and a meeting room you can book by the hour.
