GROU Coffee + Cowork (steps from the mall)

Just a short walk from Shops at Merrick Park, in the Merrick Park district at 4100 Salzedo St, GROU is the neighborhood's coffee shop, brunch spot, and coworking space. It is where locals grab a matcha or cold brew, sit down to Healthy Arepas and paninis, and open a laptop for the afternoon. Reserve a private office or meeting room at GROU Cowork, check the menu, or line up catering for your next meeting. Best for: coffee, breakfast, working lunches, and meetings near Merrick Park.

GROU is the shortest hop on this page, roughly a four minute walk from the mall's edge. It opens at 7:30am on weekdays and 8:30am on weekends, so it is the answer to breakfast before the stores open. It holds a 4.8 Google rating from 1,090 reviews and was named Best Coffeehouse in Miami in the 2026 awards. One thing to plan around: GROU closes at 6pm on weekdays and 3pm on weekends, so it is a morning and midday stop rather than a dinner one.

Perry's Steakhouse and Grille

Perry's anchors the mall's dining on Level 1 with a tableside carved, slow smoked caramelized pork chop and cocktails at Bar 79. The go to for a celebration or a business dinner.

Bar 79 takes its name from 1979, the year Perry's began as a meat market. The patio is large, with a fire element and outdoor lounge seating. Dinner runs nightly from 4 PM, and lunch is Fridays only, 10:30 AM to 5 PM. No breakfast. Reserve for the dining room, Bar 79 takes walk ins. Treat it as the celebration and business dinner option rather than somewhere to open a laptop.

Sawa Restaurant and Lounge

A Merrick Park mainstay blending Mediterranean mezze with Japanese sushi, from hummus and kibbeh to rolls, plus a lively lounge and weekend scene. Good for groups and long, social dinners.

The format is genuinely dual: mezze and tapas on one side, a full sushi menu on the other, which is why it survives a table that cannot agree. The kitchen is contemporary Mediterranean and Japanese, with the Lebanese side front and center: hummus, kibbeh and falafel next to a full roll list. There is outdoor seating, vegetarian options are on the menu, and the bar runs past the kitchen, to midnight on Friday and Saturday and 11pm the rest of the week, with belly dance on those two nights. Yard House

Both the draft list and the menu are unusually long, which makes Yard House the default when nobody can agree on a cuisine. Expect sports bar volume rather than a quiet table, and a room built for walk ins and big groups rather than a careful reservation. Vegetarian options are on the menu throughout, and it is another of the mall patios where dogs are welcome outside.

Sea Grill

Mediterranean and Greek seafood with a breezy outdoor patio, built around whole grilled branzino. An easy, sunny lunch or dinner at the mall.

The kitchen is chef driven and leans seasonal and sustainable, so the list moves with what is running rather than staying fixed. The room is bright and cavernous and gets loud in the good way. Mariposa

Tucked inside Neiman Marcus, Mariposa is a lunch favorite with chicken Milanese, salmon tacos, and balcony seating above the shops. A refined break from a day of errands.

It sits on Level Three inside Neiman Marcus, which is how people walk past it for years without ever finding it. The room is calm, the lighting is muted, and the balcony tables look down over the shops. Meals traditionally open with a complimentary consommé and a popover with strawberry butter. Lunch first, worth reserving, and quiet enough to actually hold a conversation, which is rare in a mall.

Bazille

Nordstrom's full service American bistro serves crab bisque, French onion soup, and brick oven pizzas. A reliable lunch on the third floor of Nordstrom.

Bazille is Nordstrom's full service bistro rather than a department store café, and that distinction is the whole point: appetizers, salads, sandwiches, brick oven pizzas, entrées, house made desserts, and a full bar with cocktails and a wine list, with bar seating alongside the dining room. Breakfast dishes stay on the menu all day, but the room does not open until 11am any day of the week, so it is a late breakfast option rather than a morning one. C'est Bon

A quick service cafe for sandwiches, panini, crepes, smoothies, and empanadas when you want something fast between stores.

C'est Bon opened at Merrick Park in 2002, closed for a renovation, and reopened in November 2018. Crepes are made to order, sweet and savory, alongside paninis, sandwiches and wraps, plus a Mediterranean and Lebanese section and a counter of fresh pressed juices and smoothies. It is quick service on the second level with outdoor seating, and it is on the mall's pet friendly patio list. This is the fast option without leaving the property.

The Wagyu Bar by Meat N' Bone

This one is not in the mall. It sits at 4019 S Le Jeune Road, about a quarter mile away, a walk of well under ten minutes. The wagyu focused steak concept started in 2021 on Coral Way and moved to Coral Gables in 2026, taking over the longtime Cafe Vialetto space.

It comes out of the Meat N' Bone butcher business, which deals in USDA Prime, Japanese A5 wagyu, Iberico pork and specialty cuts, though the retail butcher counter stayed at the original Coral Way address, now Meat N' Bone Kitchen, rather than moving into the Coral Gables dining room. It takes reservations, and the kitchen runs from lunch through dinner, opening at noon.

Coffee and breakfast near Shops at Merrick Park

Inside the mall, coffee means Nordstrom Ebar or C'est Bon, and breakfast means C'est Bon or Bazille. That is the honest list, and both are genuinely useful when you are already inside and do not want to move the car.

Outside it, GROU Coffee + Cowork is a four minute walk away, and it is the only place on this page that is a specialty coffee shop and a coworking space in the same room. Cold brew steeps for sixteen hours. Breakfast runs from the gluten free Arepa and Avocado Toast to Chia Pudding, Overnight Oats, a Greek Yogurt Parfait, a Sourdough Bagel with lox, Quiche Lorraine, croissants and Pan de Bono, with Green Juice, fresh squeezed orange juice and Wellness Shots on the cold side. Most guides answer "restaurants near Merrick Park" with everything inside a five mile radius, which is not useful when you are standing in the parking garage deciding where to eat. Here is the honest version: the mall sits at the southern edge of Coral Gables, so "near" stretches to the rest of the Gables within a few minutes by car. GROU is the closest of everything on this page, four minutes on foot. These are the others worth the short drive.

Doc B's Restaurant + Bar

American comfort food with a big salad and bowl section, which makes it one of the easier places to feed a group where half the table wants a burger and the other half does not. It is not inside the mall: it sits at 301 Miracle Mile at Salzedo Street, about 1.3 miles north, so this one is a drive.

Graziano's

Argentine parrilla in downtown Coral Gables, not inside the mall. The restaurant is at 394 Giralda Ave, about 1.35 miles north, so a drive rather than a walk. Empanadas, Argentine groceries and wine come from the group's separate Mercado, and the closest one to the mall is at Gables Station, 229 S Dixie Hwy, about half a mile away.

Talavera Cocina Mexicana

Mexican kitchen on Giralda Plaza at 2299 Ponce de Leon Blvd, with a sidewalk patio and a bar that leans on tequila and mezcal, more than 300 of them. It is not inside the mall: it sits about 1.3 miles north, so this one is a drive rather than a walk. Sit down Mexican rather than fast casual, and it holds up for both lunch and dinner.

Pincho

On Giralda Avenue, about 1.3 miles north of the mall, so this one is a drive and not a stop between stores. Miami born burgers and skewers, fast casual and priced for a quick meal once you are there.

Fritz and Franz Bierhaus

On Merrick Way, this German and Austrian beer hall brings schnitzel, bratwurst and liter steins. Communal tables, screens on the wall, and a patio, which makes it the loudest and most casual counterpoint to the mall restaurants. Threefold Cafe

An Australian café on Giralda Avenue, opened in 2014 by a couple from Melbourne, and the closest thing in the Gables to GROU's own format: specialty coffee, a proper brunch menu, and a room full of laptops. Expect Melbourne style plates like avocado toast and ricotta hotcakes, flat whites, and locally roasted beans. Breakfast and lunch only, no dinner, with outdoor seating and vegetarian options. It is 1.35 miles from the mall, so this one is a drive.

Bulla Gastrobar

A Spanish gastrobar at 2500 Ponce de Leon Blvd, built on the casual gathering place format rather than the white tablecloth one. It is not inside the mall: it sits in downtown Coral Gables near Miracle Mile, about a mile and a half north, so this one is a drive rather than a walk. Tapas first, meant to be shared, with a cocktail bar, a wine list and daily specials, and it doubles as an event venue when someone books it. Lunch and dinner, plus brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am, no breakfast, with a patio and reservations. This is the one to pick when the table is large and everybody wants to order differently.

Sushi Maki

Miami founded and serving since 2000, on Ponce de Leon Blvd. Worth naming clearly because people search for sushi at Merrick Park and end up here: Sushi Maki is not inside the mall, it is a short drive north. Japanese and sushi with an asian fusion section, vegetarian options, a patio and reservations, open for lunch and dinner. CAO Bakery & Cafe

A Cuban American bakery and café on University Drive, and the closest of the short drive group at about eight tenths of a mile from the mall. Pastries and desserts come from traditional family recipes. Indoor seating only. This is the answer people are actually looking for when they search for a Cuban spot near Merrick Park. The bakery counter comes first, but the café side serves full plates too: Cuban breakfast like bistec a caballo and churrasco with eggs, plus sandwiches, so it works for a sit down breakfast or lunch and not only coffee and a pastelito.

Eating at the mall versus eating near it

The restaurants at Shops at Merrick Park are built for the mall: valet, big rooms, and menus that work for a long lunch or a proper dinner. That is the right call when shopping is the day. If you are there for one errand, the places a few minutes away are usually faster, cheaper and quieter, and they stay open on their own schedule rather than the mall's. Worth knowing before you plan around store hours: check each restaurant's own listing, since several keep hours that do not match the mall.

Where to eat before or after shopping at Merrick Park
