When you walk into a modern specialty coffee shop, it’s common to see shelves lined with beautifully packaged coffee bags, syrups, pastries, and merchandise, all bearing the cafe's own logo. This practice, known as "white-labeling," involves buying products from a large manufacturer and simply putting your brand name on them.
While there is nothing inherently wrong with it, at GROU, we chose a different path. We believe that a coffee shop should be the beating heart of its neighborhood. That is why we champion a philosophy we call Community Over White-Labeling.
And there is no better example of this philosophy in action than our recent Women-Owned Business Bazaar on February 28th.
Instead of hiding local talent behind our own name, we opened our doors to let them shine. We poured the coffee, set up the brunch, brought in live music, and watched our space transform into a vibrant micro-economy fueled by incredible women entrepreneurs.
Every product showcased at the bazaar had a story and a face behind it. We didn’t just host a market; we celebrated passionate artists, dedicated makers, and hardworking creators who wake up every day to perfect their craft.
We are so grateful to everyone who brought their friends, sipped coffee, and supported these amazing local businesses. In case you missed it (or want to shop them again), here are the phenomenal women-owned brands that made the bazaar so special:
A special thank you to @miamimomcollective and the @gableschamber for being part of this community milestone!
When you buy a locally made product at GROU—whether during a special bazaar or from the 70+ local brands we stock daily on our shelves—you aren't just supporting our cafe. You are empowering small businesses, ensuring unmatched, small-batch quality, and building a culture of collaboration over competition.
Together, we elevate the specialty coffee and culinary scene in our city.
What is Your Favorite? We are incredibly proud of the talented network of creators we work with. Next time you visit GROU, take a moment to look at the names on the labels on our retail shelves.
We want to hear from you: Did you discover a new favorite brand at the bazaar? Let us know next time you drop by for a latte, or tag us in your unfiltered moments on social media! 💛☕️
